Whirling Staff

Whirling Staff [General]

You keep your staff spinning and whirling around your body as you fight, forcing nearby opponents to keep their distance.
Prerequisite: Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus (quarterstaff)
Benefit: You may use your Dexterity modifier in place of your Strength modifier when attacking with a quarterstaff. Further, when you fight defensively (Player’s Handbook, page 140) and are wielding a quarterstaff, you may make an attack of opportunity against any opponent that enters your threat range. The limits regarding the number of attacks of opportunity you may make apply as per normal.
Special: A fighter may select Whirling Staff as one of his fighter bonus feats.

Pole Vault

Pole Vault [General]

With the aid of a simple shaft of wood, you can propel yourself up or forward to dazzling lengths.
Prerequisites: Jump 1 rank
Benefit: When holding a quarterstaff or a 10-foot pole, you gain a +5 competence bonus to any Jump check used to make a long jump or a high jump as long as you are able to get a running start of at least 20 ft. If you are wielding a quarterstaff, you may use a pole vaulting attack to potentially knock your opponent prone. If you use the charge action to make an unarmed attack and you successfully damage your opponent, you may make an immediate trip attempt against that opponent. If your trip attempt fails, your opponent may not attempt to trip you in return.
Special: The trip attack used during a pole vaulting charge attack is made to determine if your opponent is thrown off his feet by the force of your attack. As such, the effects of the Improved Trip feat do not apply to this attack.

Staff Defense

Staff Defense [General]

Your training with the staff includes parries and blocks rarely seen in more conventional fighting.

Prerequisite: Weapon Focus (quarterstaff)
Benefit: While fighting with a quarterstaff and not flat-footed or helpless, you gain a +1 shield bonus to armor class. This bonus stacks with other shield bonuses, such as that granted by the Two-Weapon Defense feat.
Special: A fighter may select Staff Defense as one of his fighter bonus feats.

Spinning Staff

Spinning Staff [General]

Instead of relying on brute strength to power through an opponent’s defenses, you turn to finesse and cunning to land your blows more effectively.
Benefit: When wielding a quarterstaff, you may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls.
Special: A fighter may select Spinning Staff as one of his fighter bonus feats.

Staff Reach

Staff Reach [General]

By choking up your grip to one end of your staff and thrusting with the other, you can attack targets farther away than normal.
Prerequisite: Weapon Focus (quarterstaff)
Benefit: As a standard action, you may attack with your quarterstaff as a reach weapon. Until your next turn, your reach with the quarterstaff is increased by 5 feet.
Special: A fighter may select Staff Reach as one of his fighter bonus feats.
