Monsters of Tolrea

  • Ancestral Ghost - In Tolrea, where one goes after death is at least partly a function of where your culture believes you will go. In cultures that revere their ancestors, this sometimes means that death leads to an afterlife in the Spirit World, watching over one’s descendants. For as long as they are remembered and their progeny walk the earth, […]
  • Bothrians - The product of renegade mages’ experiments in transmutation, a race of creatures called bothrians slithers and sucks its way through the remotest parts of the kingdom of Enteria’s rainforests. These horrifying amalgams of mollusk, insect and animal bear a haunting resemblance to the unfortunate creatures onto which their tentacles and additional eyes were grafted. The […]
  • Brownie - This being resembles a tiny, hairless, nut-brown elf with enormous, luminous green eyes.
  • Cu Sidhe, Seelie - The creature before your eyes is shaped like a greyhound, but stands as tall as a pony at the shoulder. Its coat is mottled in silver and blood-red, and its gorgeous silver eyes regard the world with more-than-animal intelligence
  • Cu Sidhe, Unseelie - A great black hound the size of a horse crouches before you, its teeth flashing blue-white and its breath rimed with ice. Pale green light flickers in its eyes.
  • Ilmuktan Charger - These animals are specially bred in Ilmuk, one of the Federated River Kingdoms to the east of the Kingdom of Enteria. Ilmuktan military tactics depend greatly on the use of charges by massed heavy cavalry—plate armored riders wield lances astride the backs of these massive destriers, which often are armored in the same fashion as their riders.
  • Ondine - The being before your eyes is short and lithe, almost elfin in appearance, but with pale blue skin and violet eyes and hair. She is garbed in silken garments in shades of blue, green, and violet, and a sheen of moisture seems to glisten on her skin, hair, and clothing.
  • Overseer Zombie - Overseer zombies are intelligent undead, reanimated from the corpses of humanoids, giants, or monstrous humanoids. They provide an additional layer of control between their creators and a number of mindless undead, allowing their masters to exercise indirect control over a much greater number of such creatures than would otherwise be the case. Like their mindless […]
  • Prism-Finned Sturgeon - These magical fish are attractive and peaceful despite having the general shape of a sturgeon, with scales that show a coruscating pattern of light, often with a rainbow effect. The creature’s translucent, shining fins are the basis for its name, but ironically the fins are only noticeable when the sturgeon employs its supernatural enthralling shimmer ability.
  • Sluagh - A wispy, ethereal-looking man sits astride a black-coated horse, clutching a wicked-looking spear in one hand. Locks of white hair float like cobwebs around his pallid face as he charges down out of the night sky, eyes burning with spectral green fir
  • Star Wasp Swarm - A low drone fills the air around a cloud of thousands of faintly glowing insects
