Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 standard action

Range: Personal
Area: 5ft + 5ft/5 levels burst
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Reflex half

You create a sudden burst of fire that spreads outward from you in a ring, either horizontally or vertically, dealing 1d6 damage per two caster levels, to a maximum of 10d6 at 20th level. The ring has a range of 5ft plus 5ft per five caster levels, to a maximum of 25ft at 20th level.

Static Charge

Static Charge

Evocation [Electricity]
Level: Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action

Range: Personal
Area: 5ft + 5ft/5 levels spread
Duration: 1 round/level
Saving Throw: None

Spell Resistance: Yes

You charge the air around you with electrical energy, which deals electricity damage to anyone within the spell’s range. The air crackles with visible sparks and small arcs of electricity, making the spell’s area obvious to almost any observer. The spell has an effective range of 5ft plus 5ft per five caster levels, to a maximum of 15ft at 15th level. Each round on your turn, starting when you cast the spell, the static charge deals 1d8 points of electricity damage to each creature and object within it. Any creature that enters the area of the spell immediately takes 1d8 electricity damage.

Material Component: Two small pieces of fabric, which are rubbed together between the thumb and index finger

Adain's Emergency Shelter

Adain’s Emergency Shelter

Evocation [Force]
Level: Cleric 5, Sor/Wiz 5
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 immediate action

Range: Personal
Effect: 5-ft.-radius sphere centered on you
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: None

Spell Resistance: No

This spell creates an impenetrable but transient spherical barrier of force, similar to the wall of force spell. This spell can only be cast when the caster is offered a Reflex save. Falling objects bounce off of the sphere and land in an adjacent square. The sphere blocks breath weapons. Spells originating from outside the sphere react similarly to when striking a wall of force.

The sphere exists for only long enough to block whatever offered the Reflex save, and then disappears. For instance, if a cleric is caught under falling rocks, he may cast the spell, deflecting the rocks. However, if immediately a fireball explodes in the area immediately afterwards, the caster is no longer protected and cannot cast the spell again, even if offered a Reflex save. However, the caster may take his Reflex save as usual.

Frostwave

Frostwave

Evocation [Cold]
Level: Sor/Wiz 2
Component: V, F, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action

Range: 15 feet
Area: Cone-shaped burst
Duration: 1round/level or until removed; see text
Saving Throw: Reflex negates

Spell Resistance: Yes and no; see text

You create a wave of snow that covers every creature in a 15 foot cone; a Reflex save allows a target to completely avoid the wave. The snow sticks to the targets for one round per level (to a maximum of 6 rounds); a target can take a full-round action to remove the snow covering its body. In cold weather (below 40°F), the snow sticks twice as long to the target, while in hot environment (above 90°F), the duration is halved (round down).

Each round a target is covered with snow (starting the round you cast the spell), it takes 1d6 points of cold damage, and its speed is reduced by half. This is not countered by the haste spell; a hasted or slowed target still moves at half its modified speed, to a minimum of 5 feet. Spell resistance allows a target to resist the cold damage, but her speed is still halved due to obstruction by snow.

Material Component: A drop of water, which is frozen in snow by the spell.

Adain's Emergency Shield

Adain’s Emergency Shield

Evocation [Force]
Level: Cleric 4, Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 immediate action

Range: Personal
Effect: 5 by 10 foot wall adjacent to the caster
Duration: See text
Saving Throw: None

Spell Resistance: No

This spell creates an impenetrable but transient flat barrier of force, similar to the wall of force spell. This spell can only be cast when the caster is targeted by an attack (as defined in the invisibility spell description).

The shield is a 5-foot wide, 10-foot tall wall that appears between the caster and whatever creature attacked her. When created, this wall is immobile, immune to all damage, and immune to all spells except as listed in the wall of force spell description. This wall can grant partial or total cover against any attack. The wall lasts until the start of the caster’s next turn and then immediately disappears.
