Amazing. That's some godawful rolling.

Caleb's turn.

Cronono
Cronono's picture

@MinusInnocence - Any thoughts here?

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

Caleb will move to J9 and flank the dancing sword with Kairon. I THINK this means I won't provoke any opportunity attacks because I'm not leaving any enemy's threatened spaces.

Mace vs Dancing Sword #1 (advantage)
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 14, 3 = 17.
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 8, 3 = 11.
I rolled 1d8+1, the result is 1, 1 = 2.

Cronono
Cronono's picture

That's 100% correct, that's 100% a hit, and minimum damage.

Bird chucks some alchemical fire at the rug.

Attack!
I rolled 1d20+2, the result is 4, 2 = 6.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

The animated armor 4 moves one square south and attacks Cor'val. He has multiattack.

Attack 1, Attack 2, Damage 1, Damage 2
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 8, 4 = 12.
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 10, 4 = 14.
I rolled 1d6+2, the result is 3, 2 = 5.
I rolled 1d6+2, the result is 1, 2 = 3.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Cor'val takes 3 damage. This is an ongoing theme.

Swords. The swords are still up.

Sword 1 is flanking Able.

Attack, Adv., Damage
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 11, 3 = 14.
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 19, 3 = 22.
I rolled 1d8+1, the result is 2, 1 = 3.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

In an update that will likely blow absolutely no-one's minds - Able takes 3 damage.

Sword 3 is also flanking Able.

Attack, Adv, Damage
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 1, 3 = 4.
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 3, 3 = 6.
I rolled 1d8+1, the result is 1, 1 = 2.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Able takes zero damage because this dice roller is ass.

Kairon casts Magic Missile, launching 1 missile at Blue 1 and 2 missiles at blue 3.

Blue 1 Damage, Blue 3 Damage
I rolled 1d4+1, the result is 2, 1 = 3.
I rolled 2d4+2, the result is 2, 2, 2 = 6.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Sword 1 is down. Sword 3 is bloodied.

Eryndir's turn.

Trigger
Trigger's picture

Eryndir will move through M3, N4, O4, into P4. He'll then fire an arrow at the rug, using his ranged flank with Charn.

Afterwards, he'll continue moving through P5 and P6 into P7, where he'll drop prone (as it costs zero movement) and attempt to Hide using his Cunning Action.

Longbow, Longbow (Advantage), Stealth
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 16, 5 = 21.
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 5, 5 = 10.
I rolled 1d20+7, the result is 8, 7 = 15.
Trigger
Trigger's picture

Longbow Damage

I rolled 1d8+3, the result is 2, 3 = 5.
I rolled 1d6, the result is 3 = 3.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Brianna remains knocked out. Prythurkan bleeds.

I rolled 1d20, the result is 18 = 18.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Prythurkan clots a bit, but he's not stable.

Darusthanav shoots a magic missile from his curious wand at Sword 3.

MM
I rolled 1d4+1, the result is 2, 1 = 3.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Is anyone, at all, surprised that did 3 damage? Anyone?

Charn's turn. He's between Blue Sword 6 and Green Rug 5.

deadDMwalking
deadDMwalking's picture

In case it comes to me, my plan is to withdraw with Brianna as long as I'm not bleeding out, too.

Dafyd
Dafyd's picture

Figuring his best shot to avoid being clobbered to death is to beat down a sword, Charn attacks the one near him!

I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 9, 5 = 14.
I rolled 1d8+3, the result is 7, 3 = 10.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Charn has advantage against the sword because he is flanking with Kairon. Give me another attack roll!

Dafyd
Dafyd's picture

Roll #2!

I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 1, 5 = 6.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Charn cuts nothing but air.

The sword, unhappy about this state of affairs, disengages and moves to E8. It flanks Cor'val.

Cor'val's turn. Map is below.

Initiative is a breeze when almost everyone je is unconscious.

Cronono

This fight has been harder on you than I expected.

Obsidian_Spoon

Can I drop my bow and draw both my shortswords and still be able to attack with them this round?

Cronono
Cronono's picture

Here's the section from the SRD that governs:

SRD wrote:

Other Activity on Your Turn
Your turn can include a variety of flourishes that require neither your action nor your move.

You can communicate however you are able, through brief utterances and gestures, as you take your turn.

You can also interact with one object or feature of the environment for free, during either your move or your action. For example, you could open a door during your move as you stride toward a foe, or you could draw your weapon as part of the same action you use to attack.

If you want to interact with a second object, you need to use your action. Some magic items and other special objects always require an action to use, as stated in their descriptions.

The DM might require you to use an action for any of these activities when it needs special care or when it presents an unusual obstacle. For instance, the DM could reasonably expect you to use an action to open a stuck door or turn a crank to lower a drawbridge.

It explicitly states that you can draw your weapon as part of the same action you use to attack. Dropping your bow doesn't seem to be "interaction" by my understanding and is free. You can only interact with a single object unless you have the dual wielder feat.

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Well, then I'll drop the bow for now and draw one sword as part of his attack.

Shortsword attack, dmg.
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 18, 5 = 23.
I rolled 1d6+3, the result is 4, 3 = 7.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Well, this is a good news/bad news situation. The good news is that you hit. The bad news is that you didn't tell me what you hit, so I'm not sure how to apply your damage.

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Oh. The only thing I could hit was the armor guy. I meant to add that.

Cronono
Cronono's picture

Got it. You're flanked both by the armor and by Sword 6. You also have a move action left (and a bonus, if you have one available). Are you taking either action?

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Damn, I didn't even see sword 6. I guess I'll move 5 ft to F7 so I'm not flanked at the moment and won't provoke either.

Cronono
Cronono's picture

An excellent tactical consideration, and a fun mental image. Our wood elf friend, dancing on top of a coffin, beset on all sides by the inequities of animated injustice.

The rug attempts to smother Charn.

Attack, Damage
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 10, 5 = 15.
I rolled 2d6+3, the result is 2, 1, 3 = 6.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Charn is not yet upholstered.

Caleb's turn!

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

How many more checks can Pryth fail before he dies?

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag and begin slitting throats." - H.L. Mencken

Cronono
Cronono's picture

Two more, but if he rolls a 1 on his next roll it counts as two.

Also, this made me think of Caleb.

https://www.npr.org/2019/03/20/704926048/gorsuch-provides-decisive-5th-vote-in-case-interpreting-treaty-with-indian-tribe

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

I'm going to have to hope he doesn't roll a 1, then. I want to stabilize him but I can't get to him without provoking unless I either disengage from Sword 3 or destroy it. How much damage has it taken so far?

Also: that case would be very confusing for Caleb. He loves when people use roads AND pay taxes. I feel like he would have been mad at Gorsuch no matter which way he voted.

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag and begin slitting throats." - H.L. Mencken

Cronono
Cronono's picture

Without taking time to examine its injuries, all you know is bloodied or not bloodied. Sword 3 is bloodied.

My understanding is that's pretty much how being a SCOTUS judge works - people get mad at you regardless of what you put into your opinions.

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

OK. If Able is still standing next to Sword 3, Caleb will circle around to I11 to flank with him. Hopefully we can drop it then I can save Pryth next round.

Mace vs Sword 3 (advantage)
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 9, 3 = 12.
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 3, 3 = 6.
I rolled 1d8+1, the result is 8, 1 = 9.

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag and begin slitting throats." - H.L. Mencken

Cronono
Cronono's picture

That would have been a very satisfying blow if it had landed. Brutal.

Long list of NPCs I'll handle at lunch.

Cronono
Cronono's picture

Bird throws some Alchemical fire at the rug, then moves NW to M7 to flank with Charn.

Rug Dex Save, Damage
I rolled 1d20+2, the result is 8, 2 = 10.
I rolled 1d6+3, the result is 5, 3 = 8.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

The rug is now bloodied and on fire.

Armor 4 provokes from Darusthanav as he moves East twice, to G6. I'm ruling that Cor'val counts as an ally and thus gives Darusthanav the benefit of the Kobold "Pack Tactics" racial:

Pack Tactics wrote:
The kobold has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the kobold's allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.
Attack, Adv (Pack Tactics), Dagger, Sneak Attack
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 14, 4 = 18.
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 1, 4 = 5.
I rolled 1d4+2, the result is 1, 2 = 3.
I rolled 1d6, the result is 1 = 1.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

A piddling 4 damage. The armor isn't bloodied. However, the armor now has a multiattack against Cor'val, with advantage.

Attack 1, Adv 1, Attack 2, Adv 2, Damage 1, Damage 2
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 3, 4 = 7.
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 20, 4 = 24.
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 8, 4 = 12.
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 9, 4 = 13.
I rolled 1d6+2, the result is 1, 2 = 3.
I rolled 1d6+2, the result is 3, 2 = 5.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Rolling Crit damage on attack 1.

Crit damage
I rolled 1d6, the result is 3 = 3.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Cor'val takes 6 damage. He is technically not bloodied, as the definition of bloodied says that you are bloodied when you are below half hit points.

Sword 3 swings on Able.

Attack, Damage
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 12, 3 = 15.
I rolled 1d8+1, the result is 4, 1 = 5.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Able takes 5 damage. He is now unconscious and on the floor, bleeding out.

Kairon, now engaged by the Animated Armor, disengages. She moves to H9.

Eryndir's turn. Map incoming.

Cronono
Cronono's picture

For reference

Cronono
Cronono's picture

I forgot to move the bird Icon. I'm the worst. He's in M7.

Trigger
Trigger's picture

Ernydir spends half of his movement to pop up from a prone position, simultaneously loosing an arrow at the Animated Armor in G6. (He looked as though he was going to continue firing on the rug. However, he noticed the rug in flames and saw his fellow Wood Elf flanked by armor that he knows from personal experience packs a wallop.)

After his attack, he will move through O8 into O9 and drop prone again, using his Cunning Action to hide behind another casket.

Longbow, Longbow (Advantage), Stealth
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 10, 5 = 15.
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 2, 5 = 7.
I rolled 1d20+7, the result is 2, 7 = 9.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Eryndir misses.

Brianna dreams.

Prythurkan bleeds.

Death Saving Throw
I rolled 1d20, the result is 7 = 7.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

The Monarchy Worshipping Dragonborn Paladin is very close to death.

A very distressed kobold named Darusthanav moves E, E, NE, E, flanking the animated armor with Cor'val.

Attack, Adv, Damage, Sneak
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 12, 4 = 16.
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 4, 4 = 8.
I rolled 1d4+2, the result is 2, 2 = 4.
I rolled 1d6, the result is 2 = 2.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

The kobold succeeds in generating noise, but nothing more.

Charn's turn.

Dafyd
Dafyd's picture

Charn uses his flanking with Bird to hack more at the evil rug!

I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 11, 5 = 16.
I rolled 1d20+5, the result is 5, 5 = 10.
I rolled 1d8+3, the result is 5, 3 = 8.
Cronono
Cronono's picture

Little did Charn know when that cheese got him in so much trouble that he would one day head out to the frontier and brutally attack a carpet. He deals some damage to it.

The sword flanking Cor'val attempts to bring him down.

Attack, Adv., Damage
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 6, 3 = 9.
I rolled 1d20+3, the result is 3, 3 = 6.
I rolled 1d8+1, the result is 6, 1 = 7.
