This idea will probably....

...end up in the Retired Campaigns sub forum but I am considering rolling out another PbP game. My track record is horrible. I think I am 0-3. But, if anyone can get over that sad truth, post if you would want to spend time on creating a character that may ultimately end up as a post soon forgotten. Maybe not. Maybe this campaign will be the campaign that stands the test of time like 2EE or Ancestral Burdens.

It has been more than a few years since I have turned my back on D&D. 4e, and DMing at multiple GenCons, killed my love of the game to the point that my only tie to D&D is Tals game. I want to get back into it with a group of players that I respect. Even Jeff. I guess.

So there it is. Looking for up to five players. No idea what I will be running but it will be set in either Forgotten Realms or Eberron. I'll probably query preference if there is interest here. It will be 3.5. It probably will not be as polished as MI's or Tal's campaigns.

I have some interest that will depend on source material, setting, plot, and character creation. I'd love to bring back my old character out of your last dead campaign.

I'm interested. Would prefer Eberron, but Forgotten Realms also is quite acceptable (my first games were all set in FR).

I'm interested. If this is going to die a slow death, it will not be my doing. I'd prefer Eberron over Forgotten Realms. I've been a player in at least one long campaign in the setting and I have several of the source books.

I dig both settings. I've been working on a Pathfinder conversion for an Eberron campaign set in Sharn for a few years now.

Aw, did it die already?

No. I was waiting to see if the old forum could be brought up. I wanted to look at some old PbP stuff.

Is there a possibility that it can be accessed?

Darker

Oh yeah, I was working on it but then life kicked my ass. There may be a possibility I can try again this weekend.

Hey, guys. I'm Jeff.

Ok, I found all the message entries in the databases, all the way back to the old old forum. However, there's not a good way to recreate them in their old structure. Right now, I have them in XML and a decent XML programmer could have them all sorted out, but it would take me a long time to relearn those skills and write something up that would work.

BUT, since the post text is available in its entirety, it's quite easy to find things if you know a search term. For example, I found Sariyah's character details (the character I played and would play again from your last game) without much issue.

Okay. So this will be a PbP set in Eberron. Tal, Darker, MI, and Dead are in. Drum expressed interest as well. Can I get a sub forum created? Heroes of Eberron or something like that works.

Working on it now.

If you are running a game, I will play.

... you big, beautiful bitch.

Since it looks like 1) Craig wants to keep the Character Management thread free of extraneous chatter, and 2) he's running this predominantly as a Sharn campaign, I figured I'd throw some ideas around.

I'm interested in playing as a former military officer who became a private investigator when peacetime rolled around. He's a "knight in sour armor" who started out disillusioned with the society that led to the Last War, had trouble adjusting back to civilian life, and became an inquisitive because he still wanted to make the world a better place. Deep down, he still wants the good guys to win, but he's jaded and getting worse.

Mechanically, he'd probably be a ranger/rogue. I'm not married to this idea, though, and if there's nobody else who wants to play a cleric or other dedicated healer, I'm willing to do that.

I was thinking about a warforged artificer with the option of multiclassing into something more martial. Maybe a NCO in a platoon of warforged who was responsible for enhancing and maintaining the fighting strength of his brothers-in-arms. Pragmatically, he views the end of the war as something of a blessing and a curse, because obviously he was literally forged for war. Being only a few years old and expected to figure out the reason for your entire existence, or if there is one, is daunting. On the other hand, having his personhood recognized by international law is a pretty sweet gig; but his specific skill set is really only useful for killing things and breaking shit. So he's hovering somewhere between committing to life as a sellsword or resorting to banditry just for something to do.

I was playing with the idea of having my character on good terms with an NPC formerly of House Cannith. My thinking was that the two would have served together during the war, become friends, and then the Cannith guy had a much easier time adjusting back to civilian life. I'm leaving hooks in place so that if I pick up the master inquisitive PrC later, I have everything laid out and ready for me.

Anyway, if your warforged served under my guy's Cannith scion, that'd get us a clear reason for the two to be associates in peacetime.

It might be that Mike's warforged, being an artificer, knew/knows something about my warforged's shadowed past.
