Alright, what now? (OOC)

Alright, you guys know what to do. You've had a rest. As a result, anyone who was injured has regained a number of hit points equal to half their total, rounded down (the new total, counting the level you just gained). Example: D&F has 25 hit points total, so he regains 12. Before the rest he was at -9 hit points, so he's now at 3 hit points.

Good luck.

drumandfight
drumandfight's picture

Damn, that is bleak.

What is the rate that I will recover now?

Edit: Just curious, if I layer up with the clothes I brought could the extra padding be considered impromptu armor? Obviously nothing huge, but some sort of armor points that would reflect soaking up some of the force of a punch or kick? Trying to get creative here.

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

You heal damage at the rate of one point per character level per day, or double that if you're taking full bed rest (24 hours of light activity, which is basically limited to talking and eating and other normal day to day stuff). If there is someone watching over you using the Treat Injury skill, you recover three hit points per character level per 24 hours of bed rest.

Re: impromptu armor, Matt might consider several layers of clothing worn together to be equivalent to a leather jacket on the armor table, except that it is probably bulkier and might impose a penalty to the use of some skills (unlike the jacket, which is designed with both comfort and protection in mind).

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Correct on all points.

drumandfight
drumandfight's picture

What skills would it impose a penalty to?

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Anything physical. Think of it like an armor check penalty.

Talanall

Taking 20 on a Spot check, looking for signs that this mess is spreading. Fires, emergency response lights flashing, etc. Or worse, blackouts in the power grid.

Mark is a close friend of mine who works as a civilian contractor in military intelligence. He's pretty much the first person I'd call if I was in this particular kind of shit and I wanted to get out.

DDMW said he had a solution if we made it out of the stairwell alive. So we made it, what's the plan!?

Otherwise, I'm about to tunnel my way to another room.

deadDMwalking

If we can call the elevator to our level, we can confirm if it is 'clear'. If it is, we should be able to stop it on our level (blocking the doors - whatever). The elevator should have a portal on the top that leads out of the car. At any point, even the highest floor, there's enough space for people to stand. We could confirm the floor we call to is clear.

Talanall
Talanall's picture

I think the idea has real merit. I also think we would benefit by taking another sleep cycle to heal up. We've been beaten to shit, and the truth is that everyone who died in our presence has died on this floor.

The idea also assumes the elevators are working. For all we know, the outage is building-wide and they don't. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try it, but it's a matter of interest to me.

For that matter, I'm nearly ready for us to take a peek outside and see how far the outage extends--if we torched the whole building, we should be able to tell at a glance from the railing.

I was thinking on similar lines... Only that we could use the elevator shaft and climb down it.

drumandfight
drumandfight's picture

Now you guys are thinking. I agree that Jeff could definitely benefit from another sleep cycle. He is still hurting pretty badly.

Then, he will assist in any way he can with Operation Secure-an-Elevator.

Fixxxer

Couple of points. Darker, you said IC that there were 20,000 people at the con. Triple that. Conservative estimates from last summer had more than 57,000 attendees scheduled. That said, the con is spread out over several hotels on several city blocks.

Also, if you're talking about the central elevators that are located not far from the door to your room, it's obvious to even a casual observer that there is no actual elevator shaft. These are not traditional cars. They're basically plexiglass tubes mounted on stabilizer rails that are mostly located outside of a shaft environment for the purposes of decoration. Here's a picture:

drumandfight

Well, fuck.

Crimison
Crimison's picture

This whole place is in some seriously need of comic relief. Crimison isn't that far from from following her purse off the rail. She is in favor of any plan that involves not being on the same floor as the pulpy remains of her favorite person.
Or at least having to avoid human contact for as long as possible.

drumandfight
drumandfight's picture

What do I need to roll to hit on Crimison using a mask I made out of Matt's face remnants?

Genuine chuckle achieved.

And just like that, drumandfight's character is impotent. And has herpes. And is gay.

So it's just another average day for Jeff.

drumandfight
drumandfight's picture

Yeah, so what changed?

He is still wearing a Matt mask. The only difference now is that he contracted Herpes on his Herpes.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

So... what's the dilly-yo?

Talanall
Talanall's picture

At some point Talanall is going to peek out the door, and when the coast is clear he'll look up and down the hotel to see if we've fried its whole lighting system, or just a few floors.

Then back inside for naptime.

If we tool up for an attempt to get an elevator after that, he's down for it. But he also is completely willing to stockpile water and wait to see how the uglies fare with dehydration.

I'm counting the rest you guys just took as your potential rest for the coming day with regards to the return of hit points. That said, come three or four hours from now will be 24 hours since Didge and Board Rider bit it, meaning that anyone who received first aid and/or long-care treatment from Crimison after that first fight in the hotel room will now be eligible to be so healed again.

Does anyone else want to add anything?

deadDMwalking
deadDMwalking's picture

No. I'm following Tal in this case. Our odds of surviving individually are likely higher if we split up, but I'm not yet desperate enough to strike out on my own.

Jeff is never leaving Brett's side again. He is my guardian angel and I fully expect a Thursday evening cable rom-com to be a result of this.

Jeff needs that long term care. What will my HPs be at after this bout of rest?

Jeff has stock piled the food, ammo, clothing and water (supplies) that were in the two rooms. We have some things to eat, some extra ammo, pre workout supplement thatll make you jacked as hell, bottled water, whiskey, and various clothes.

Fixxxer

drumandfight wrote:

The same as they are now. If someone is successful at administering long-term care and you stay in bed all day, you'll regain hit points equal to your level x3. If someone is successful at administering first aid, you'll regain 1d4 hit points immediately. If you receive neither of these or just first aid, then at the end of the next day you'll regain hit points equal to your character level.

drumandfight
drumandfight's picture

Mmm mmm, I do love me some titty sprinkles.

Darker

And I took all the ammo I found in your bag... Well, except all the ones lodged in the uglies dead on the stairs.

To confirm, this was directed at drumandfight, correct?

Alright, so I've got everyone hanging tight to lick your wounds, with an interlude for Talanall and DDMW (and possibly D&F) to check out the electricity situation and possibly see if an elevator can be called to your floor. Correct?

Talanall
Talanall's picture

That seems accurate to me, yes.

Yes, that was directed at Jeff. And I'm still determined to knock a small hole in the dry wall to the next rooms on either side since I hear nothing coming from them. I'm going to assume that if I knock shave and a hair cut enough, that the rooms next to us will knock back if human and not if zombied.

If I get no response, I use my multi tool to knock a hole in the drywall and look through, going carefully and slowly.

My help to the Hall team will be watching our bedroom door and making sure it stays open a pinch without leaving us exposed.

Crimison

Apparently I'm an idiot and completely forgot about the fact that this hotel is completely non-fuctional in terms of escape routes via elevator shafts. It's a pity we can't just rapple down the side of the building like we originally wanted to.

Also, if we could maybe branch out into other rooms I'm sure we need to find food and I'd love to get my hands on a med kit.

Fixxxer

I was in the middle of writing an update when Crimison posted IC yesterday. I still have it saved in a holding pattern, but I'm curious if this new interaction is going to go anywhere.

Talanall will slip into the hallway, look around, and if there are no crazies nearby, he'll step to the railing and get a good look up and down to see how far the power outage extends.
