I really like PbP gaming. But it moves at a glacial pace, so I'm curious to know what you guys think about the idea of occasionally running a live session via chat. I've got considerable experience; it's actually the format on which I cut my teeth as a GM. So I feel comfortable that I can deliver, if this is something you guys would like to do.
I've been investigating the possibility of finding a reasonably easy-to-use, inexpensive solution that would allow real-time sessions in a virtual tabletop environment. Rolld20.net has managed to impress me. It's browser based, has a very nice little interface for mapping, and there's a solid dice roller built into the chat system. It would easily support the kinds of maps that I usually want to use (see the Ancestral Burdens forum for examples). From what I can tell, the site makes its money by selling art assets that would allow a richer mapping experience, and so on. But I'm not really looking for frills, so much as a functional map system.
With that in mind, who's at least tentatively interested in using this as a venue for occasional virtual tabletop sessions?
