It's certainly possible. You can have as many allies are there are in the Ally deck, technically. In fact, there's a Mission card where you can travel to several Locations on the board and sacrifice an ally at each location, which results not only in the Ancient One being defeated, but you and you alone win the game and all the other Investigators lose.
Just to be clear, @Board Rider, are you going to have an encounter at Ma's Boarding House, or are you planning on trading trophies for an ally? If it's the latter, which trophies and which ally?
I really should have brought this up earlier in the game, but the Ally deck is the one deck in the game that's available at all times for anyone to look through if they want to. The deck always begins with 11 cards, but there are many more ally cards than that, so not every potential ally will be available in every game. Also, a card is discarded from the Ally deck every time the Terror Level increases, so here's what you've got left to choose from:
My boy Duke is in the house!
I won't be in contact starting tomorrow morning until Sunday evening. If the game isn't over by the time Mary's turn rolls around and you get to my action, she intends to close the Gate to R'lyeh even though she doesn't have enough Clues to seal it. Because the success or failure of that roll may or may not influence what other people want to do, I won't be rolling now, so please do so on my behalf, @Fixxxer. Mary isn't opposed to using whatever Clues she does have to make this happen.
Lets Go to the Boarding House and get the Professor. Can I use the Great Race and R'lyeh cards?
Michael McGlen Fight vs Gate
Woot! We win!
Withe six unstable locations sealed, the game is over, with the Investigators emerging victorious. Spectacular effort on everyone's part. When I proposed we play, it really didn't occur to me to think that we'd actually win our first game out. I'm surprised and pleased by this.
I'll be traveling for a little over 2 weeks starting in a few days, so I'm not going to jump right into another game immediately. When I get back, though, I'll be firing up another round with different Investigators, a different Ancient One and using the Dunwich Horror expansion board, which adds a number of new rules and options as well as increasing the number of properties the Investigators can visit (and that gates can open) by roughly 50%. I'll make a callout for players when I get back from my trip, but everyone involved this time is certainly welcome to play next time around.
Congrats to the first-time players. This really isn't usually how things go. Great playthrough all around, thank you, @Fixxxer.
Thanks everyone for dragging me along! I still have a lot to learn but that was fun! I appreciate you running this Fixxxer.
Yay... Yes, this went extremely smoothly for us. I bought the game and have played through a few times on my own and I normally get destroyed. So this was a nice, calm, introduction I do think.
It was a great introduction, and I'd love to play again.
