Trish, in no way interested in anything but sealing the Lost Carcossa Gate, will roll an evade check against the goat spawn to sneak pass and enter the gate. Sneak is at 6 plus 1 from my ally minus 1 from the modifier, so 6 dice.

Evade check against Goat Spawn
I rolled 6d6, the result is 1, 1, 6, 5, 2, 2 = 17.

@Board Rider, Zoey has a gate trophy, but she also has 5 toughness worth of monster trophies. Either of these is currency for the Strange Deal she's looking to make at Devil's Hopyard. Which is it gonna be?

Hell yeah, so she can do it twice. Still gotta pick which order you do it in though in case it matters next turn.

Monsters first please.

I had a brain fart on Luke's Safety Deposit Key item. It gets activated on the Movement Phase, but I mistakenly skipped that, thinking it was ther Arkham Encounters Phase. Nothing earth-shattering has happened, so I retconned that into the beginning of the new post because Aladdar indicated what he wanted and I flubbed it up.

@Aladdar, Luke got the Brazier of Souls during the Movement Phase. Now he's up for dealing with his Encounter at the bank.

What is the brazier of souls?

Here's my luck check.

I rolled 3d6, the result is 6, 5, 4 = 15.

It's my lucky day.

@MinusInnocence, Charlie's on deck.

Drat!

Charlie's Luck is at 2 right now, and Professor Rice gives him one more. 3 - 1 from the card gives him 2 dice to roll.

Luck vs a dumb door
I rolled 2d6, the result is 5, 4 = 9.

Rolling 4d6 for the rest of Tommy's Clues in lieu of continuing to make post after post.

I rolled 4d6, the result is 2, 1, 3, 3 = 9.

Alright, Zhar has awakened.

1: Do we want to try to fight it, or shall we give up and concede the game?

2: If we want to fight it, is anyone confused about how this is done?

3: (x-1)(x+1) = x2-1

I'm fine with calling it here. I suppose there's always a chance we could just take turns beating Zhar up with the best weapons, passing them to the next person when someone is about to be devoured, but it would probably make for pretty tedious die rolls.

And...we all die. I don't think we can pull this off.

I'm fine with moving on. Some of the God's are beatable... This one seems almost impossible and we're not even close to being prepared.

I'd rather just move on and start a new game.

Agree.

I concur. We don't have a chance.

All of the Ancient Ones are beatable if you're prepared for it. In Zhar's case, I think the only reasonable way to prepare is the "Fuck Bitches, Make Money" method, where you completely ignore gates and everything the game throws at you in favor of acquiring an arsenal. Essentially foregoing any attempt at preventing the awakening in favor of everyone having a half-brick-in-a-sock of both the common and magical variety to use on Zhar the moment it wakes up.

For our next game can we use just one of the expansion boards. With 4 players, trying to cover three townships seems a bit difficult.

Fixxxer

It can be difficult, especially when gates only spawn in those locations sporadically, so you end up needing to cover a lot of the map quickly. On the other hand, having more expansions also changes some of the base numbers of the game, such as monster limit, outskirts limit and the number of gates that can be open before the Ancient One wakes up, so in that way it's also a little easier having multiple townships.

Either way, when I get around to starting a new game, I'll do whatever you guys want to do. In my ideal game, there'd be enough players that I wouldn't have to fill out an Investigator role. I'd love for us to be able to make use of the Kingsport city expansion, but as of yet I haven't found an image of the board with a high enough resolution to use and my scanner isn't big enough to scan my own board without cutting it into pieces, unfortunately.

I would love to keep playing with the expansions, it makes a tough game even tougher and I think games need to be tough, especially when you want to replay them.
