Gideon's Justice (OOC)

It is now the 26th day of Fourmonth, eighteen days since Jelenneth's abduction and twenty days (two weeks) since the campaign began.

Current Status:

Argus - 1 damage.
Dalvar - 100%
Feruq - 3 damage.
Jugg - 100%
Raphael - 100%
Thunk - 9 damage, 3 Intelligence damage, 5 Wisdom damage.

I am just winging it on the meat pies. As I have it, Jugg probably consumed one or two on the march from Thurmaster. He also fed one to Thunk and now he is having his last one. Is it reasonable that in addition to all his phat loot-n-booty from being the Boozapalooza king he also grabbed four meat pies for the road ahead?

In addition to locking the previous chapter's IC and OOC threads, I updated the Important Stuff sticky. There were some changes made to a few of your active plot hooks, Cronono's name was officially added to the roster of players for 2EE, and I updated the Synopsis. In order to do so, I learned that "Evils of Haranshire" was apparently so long I couldn't fit it into the earlier post, so there is now a "Synopsis, Part 2" comment at the bottom.

Also: Cronono, feel free to post as much or as little about your character as you like in the Characters thread. No stats, though.

EDIT: Also, I need a new Fortitude save from Thunk. He gets a +2 circumstance bonus.

I will take the liberty of rolling Survival to determine what the weather looks like over the course of the next few days. That's clearly a big deal in these parts and not knowing what's coming up could kill you. You already know that the clear weather will hold for the rest of today, but tomorrow it will rain from 8am-1pm over Howler's Moor, followed by a sharp uptick in temperature in the afternoon and concluding with a thunderstorm at 11pm until an hour or two after midnight. If you roll at least a 17, you'll learn about the next day's weather, too, and so on.

Thunk is not much use to anyone right now but Feruq has a pretty good modifier on his own, so he will try to give a +2 bonus to Jugg. They had a lot of time to talk about nothing but the weather last night. I'm giving Argus the bonus for his favored terrain because your camp is basically on the very edge of the Redwood, so technically you're in a forest when you're making the roll. I don't know how that helps you predict the weather, but whatever.

Survival for Argus (favored terrain), Feruq (aid another), Jugg

MI, does that strange powder mean anything to anybody? Assuming Jugg'r asks?

Talanall
Talanall's picture

We'd probably have to identify it first.

My bet is dust of illusion. I guess it doesn't really cost Dalvar anything to find out via detect magic, since it's a cantrip for him. And he's nosy. Let's see . . . DC 21, I guess that would be.

I rolled 1d20+12, the result is 15, 12 = 27.

MinusInnocence

Dalvar correctly identifies it as dust of illusion. There's a single application in this pouch, and the person you sprinkle it on is affected as if by a disguise self spell. The specific disguise is chosen by the person sprinkling the dust, and there's no reason they can't be the same person. You can use it on someone without their consent, in which case they get a Reflex save (DC 11) to avoid letting it touch them. The effect lasts for two hours.

The dust of illusion is worth 600gp if Jugg sells it, but the box it came in also looks valuable.

Jugg isn't hungover.

...but Thunk is.

Raphael's "help" is extremely suspicious to the Dwarf right now. I want to reward Tal's bluff and my abysmal sense motive check, but Raphael may have inadvertently put a damper on Jugg trying it on himself.

I'll think on it.

I think I can say with some conviction that malevolent trolls especially seem to like it when their misinformation not only suckers people into believing them, but induces people to spread that misinformation to others.

Poor Thunky. We've already established that loud, clangy, whistly noises hurt his poor head.

So did Dalvar learn his lesson about leaving Jugg and Thunk unsupervised?

OK. You made it out of the muck, so it's time for Argus to make a Survival check and see if he can find any trace of Gideon's trail. You know you're probably two days behind him, maybe less. But he and his colleagues have horses and you do not. Well, you have one, but I doubt the party is interested in splitting up. Feruq, Jugg and Thunk can all assist him, which is good, because if you want to keep your full modifier you'll be tracking at half speed. There is a -5 penalty for moving at normal speed and a -20 penalty for double speed. So I assume he'll want as many +2 aid another modifiers as he can get his hands on.

I also need two Fortitude saves from Thunk and one from Jugg.

We're all playing our characters to the hilt, exactly as we should, and the PCs getting really grumpy with each other around this time is predictably what is likely to happen. It occurs to me that right now, we're basically playing Skyrim. We've been introduced to the main quest and have taken a step or two towards it, but we keep getting distracted by these little side quests. Naturally, the dragur are training, so by the time we actually get to The Night Below, Mike is going to have to have leveled everything up to an insane point for it to be a challenge for us. :D

MinusInnocence

If the interparty conflict gets a little too hot, one solution to both that problem and the issue of having to make up for lost time might be to split up. This is the perfect format for a game if the PCs need to break into two or more separate parties. It would let you cover two avenues of investigation simultaneously (like here, where there are at least two trails to follow) and keep people from trying to fight each other all the time.

Not recommending one way or the other. Just letting everyone know it's an option, since in most games it would be more trouble than it's worth.

We really are killing it with this RP. Dalvar did not seem as though he was going to continue to tell Jugg that his clan got their name because "shield" is a ancient dwarven for "cock" and "crusher" is the equivalent of "butt drinking." And he could have. I think we need to just have an enemy to destroy and get a win. The emphasis is on that last part. We really need a win.

IC - Jugg would be down for splitting the party.
OOC - Fuck that shit.

Fixxxer

We only have one experienced tracker, so splitting the party seems like a bad idea all around.

Does anyone have any questions about how I've described the scenario? The only opinion one way or the other came from Dalvar who thinks Gideon went west. Is that the way Argus will lead the party?
