Illusion (Figment) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Rgr 4
Components: S, M
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Target: Animal companion touched
Duration: 1 hour/level (D)
Saving Throw: See text
Spell Resistance: Yes
This spell can only target the animal you have selected as your animal companion.
Your animal companion appears innocuous and unworthy of note. While this spell is in effect, a creature that sees your animal companion must make a Will save or consider the animal inconsequential or unimportant. A minute later, the creature must make a second Will save or forget it ever saw your animal companion. This is a mind-affecting effect. Your animal companion also gains a circumstance bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks equal to your caster level.
As an additional option, you may temporarily lose one or more of your favored enemy bonuses to grant the animal companion an additional bonus on Hide and Move Silently, as well as to the Will save DC to resist the spell's effect. This bonus is equal to your favored enemy bonus, and works only against creatures of that type.
For example, Daridane is a 16th level ranger; he casts this spell on his wolf animal companion, giving it a +8 circumstance bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks. In addition, Daridane chooses to lose his +4 bonus from choosing favored enemy (human) to increase the Will save DC by +4 and increase his wolf's Hide and Move Silently checks by another +4 when it deals with humans.
Any hostile action by the animal companion immediately ends the effect.
Material Component: A bit of wool.
