Chairman Jorinel Glimstickel, called "Goldenthumbs" by his friends as a compliment to his unusually good business sense and his fine craftwork in gems and jewelry, is as close to being the person in charge of the village of Emerald Hollow as it is possible to get. He began his involvement in the Hollow Hill Miners' and Gem Traders' Cartel as a prospector, spelunking deep in the caverns beneath the village, where he quickly displayed an uncommon knack for surviving the many dangers of the uncharted tunnels.
Young Goldenthumbs soon tired of the exhausting, often dangerous work of a company prospector, and arranged to spend more time dealing with the less hazardous aspects of the cartel's business, proving as apt in negotiations and sales as he was in his previous tasks. By virtue of his meticulous, detail-oriented approach to all of his activities, he also developed quite a reputation as a gemcutter and jeweler in his own right, and was soon on the fast track to the board of directors. He has only recently achieved the position of chairman, and is currently the youngest gnome ever to fill the position. Within the region, he is generally esteemed as a negotiator and politician of a skill level only slightly below that of Mastercrafter Soren Vast of Port Hope, with whom he plays chess by correspondence.
