A large, fish-like humanoid swims by in the water. Its body is streamlined with brightly colored fins, and it propels itself forward with a muscular tail.

Azerothian nagas, usually referred to simply as nagas, are a type of aquatic-dwelling creature. They are vaguely humanoid, though their body is covered in fine aquamarine scales, and instead of a pair of legs, they possess a single, powerful tail. Their heads, backs, and arms are covered in decorative fins, which serve as both a way of swimming and a distinguishing factor amongst separate tribes; brighter fins are believed to rank one higher within a tribe.

According to legend, Azerothian nagas were once elves. However, because they tampered with forbidden magic beyond their control, they were corrupted and tainted by the dark power and transformed into the form they now possess. Regardless of whether this myth is true, Azerothian nagas loathe all creatures, especially elves, which they kill on sight. So great is their hatred of elves that they periodically launch enormous campaigns onto dry land for the sole purpose of hunting them down. The males are about 7 feet tall and weigh around 200 pounds, while females are slightly shorter, about 6-1/2 feet tall, and weigh about 160 pounds. Nagas speak their own language, called Nagan, and Elven.

Combat
Azerothian nagas are straightforward combatants. They prefer reach weapons in combination with ranged attacks, particularly the net and trident. Nagas who practice magic focus on spells that inflict the most pain on their victims.

Amphibious (Ex): Although Azerothian nagas are aquatic, they can survive indefinitely on land.

Skills: Azerothian nagas have a +4 racial bonus on balance checks. Due to their tails, they have a -4 racial penalty on Jump checks.

Azerothian Naga Characters
The vast majority of male nagas are fighters, simply because they tend to enjoy spilling blood more than females. The females, on the other hand, are primarily sorcerers (known as seawitches), retaining a connection to the magic they unlocked so long ago. Naga clerics, though few in number, typically worship evil or neutral elven deities, particularly those of the drow, although they twist and distort the teachings to fit their own agendas - usually the slaying of elves.
