The area surrounding Arkham has always been a little odd, sometimes even scary. The land is full of old growth forests and similarly ancient places where it becomes quickly apparent to anyone who stumbles across that these places are not for the eyes of man. Despite old superstitions that persist, very few people, sober and in the comfort of their warm homes, truly believes that anything mysterious and untoward is afoot in Arkham. Until a magical gateway to another realm suddenly opens.

Mythos:
A gate to Another Dimension opens at Independence Square, forever destroying the Clue that could have been discovered there. A Fire Vampire comes flying forth from the sudden tear in the fabric of reality. The Ancient One's Doom Track advances by 1.

A clue appears at The Unnamable.

Headline - Campus Security Increased!
All monsters in the Miskatonic U. streets or locations are returned to the cup.

Sparing no thought for herself, she rushes into the odd smoke, grabbing the screaming person and throwing her to safety. She falls very badly on her arm in the process, bringing immediate pain. Tommy Muldoon comes to his senses just as the Ghoul steps up to the plate. It smells wretched, but Tommy dated girls that smelled worse in college. Rather than relying on Becky this time, Tommy lifts the Flute of the Outer Gods to his lips and sounds a long, deep note. Once begun, Tommy finds he can't stop. His lungs burn with the effort, and he's reasonably certain that blood is passing his lips as well as wind. Worse, the horn seems to want to exact a mental price as well, and deluges Tommy with an understanding of the incomprehensible workings of the universe.
