New Magic Item: Stasis Orb

Stasis Orb, Lesser
A lesser stasis orb is a small, hollow glass sphere about the size of a chicken egg. The inside cavity is filled with a light blue liquid. A wielder may throw a stasis orb with a range increment of 10 feet, or it may be used as ammunition in a sling. A successful ranged touch attack forces a living humanoid target to make a Will saving throw of DC 13 or be paralyzed for 1d3 rounds. Whether the attack is successful or not, the orb is destroyed, making this a one-use item.
Faint enchantment; CL 3rd; Craft Wondrous Item, hold person; Price 150gp.

Stasis Orb, Greater
A greater stasis orb functions much like a lesser stasis orb, except that it may target a living creature of any type and the save needed to resist the effect is DC 17.
Moderate enchantment; CL 9th; Craft Wondrous Item, hold monster; Price 450gp.

This mostly checks out. I think the DC for the greater stasis orb's Will save may be a little high, however. We're looking at 10 + spell level + stat bonus for minimum ability score necessary to cast the spell. For a 5th level spell, that's 15, so it should be 10+5+2=17. Can you shed some light on why you chose DC 19?

I seem to recall using scrolls of the appropriate spells as a basis for this when I originally wrote this. That said, it looks like the minimum DC a greater stasis orb could have is 16, assuming it was crafted by a bard. That makes it a 4th-level spell, so 10+4+2=16.

I'll really have to look over the DMG section on scrolls to see why I chose DC 19 like I did, but that might take me a little time, since my physical copy of DMG is packed up right now. I'll get back to you.

Hmmm. Nope, I looked over the section of the DMG I thought I was utilizing when I originally wrote this, and I didn't find shit. I suspect I just made a whoopsie somewhere along the way and didn't catch it. Seems like DC 17 is appropriate. Good catch.
