Ok, Now to attempt to cast Voice of Ra.

I rolled 4d6, the result is 1, 5, 3, 2 = 11.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

That successfully cast, so now to attempt to cast Arcane Insight.

I rolled 2d6, the result is 4, 4 = 8.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Let's use Mythos Lore to see if we can luck out.

I rolled 1d6, the result is 5 = 5.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Ok, thanks to Mythos Lore, we have successfully cast Arcane Insight. Let me see the cards.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Also, as for movement. My plan is to move my speed up to 3 and then move to the asylum and pay to get my sanity restored.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

also, can you remind me what the encounters at location 1 and 2 are?

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Yes I can. 1 is nothing, it was a holdover from our last environment that I neglected to take off the map because I'm a dummy. 2 is the rumor, The Key and the Gate. Any one of us can go to Southside Streets and spend 2 gate trophies to gain 2 Clue tokens and retire the rumor. Barring that, the rumor card will gain a Clue token every time a gate opens until it has 6 Clues on it, at which time we have to draw a Mythos card and treat it as a gate burst.

We haven't seen any Exhibit Items yet, so a quick word about them. Exhibit Items were added with the Curse of the Dark Pharaoh expansion. They're like Unique Items, except that you can only get them through encounters and can't buy them anywhere. A list of these items can be found here:

http://www.arkhamhorrorwiki.com/Exhibit_Item

Aladdar

Why don't we do the following:

1. Escape from Arkham Asylum.
2. Early Frost
3. Superstitions Abound

The woods are already sealed for the Escape card and I don't see many if any maniacs on the board or as player trophies to pull from, so that should be doable, and also allow Kate the freedom to do whatever she wants this turn. She would just need to try to be at Independence Square for next turn to stop the gate, but there will be a clue there, so that's a good reason to get there on the next turn.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

@Obsidian_Spoon, any slider changes for Kate?

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Since I don't have to book it to the Square this turn, I'll leave my sliders the same and move calmly to Hibb's Roadhouse and wait there for an encounter.

Things are super exhausting in the RL right now since I've been working overtime, class has started up again, and I'm working on an online certification course at the same time, so I am somewhat distracted. Feel free to continue to @me if I'm absent; I get the email and it reminds me to check in as soon as I have spoons to do so.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

@MinusInnocence, there is not a Clue token at Gardner's Place. Did you mean Cold Spring Glen or Devil's Hopyard?

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

I must have been looking at something else. Devil's Hopyard sounds fine.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

@MinusInnocence, the action's on Lola.

Lola Hayes draws a card.

Devil's Hopyard - No wildlife of any kind will approach this barren field and the silence is unnerving. Make a Will (+1) check and lose 3 Sanity, reducing the Sanity lost by 1 for each success rolled (to a minimum of 0).

Also, @Board Rider, as the gate leads to either/or, will Carolyn be going to Unknown Kadath or The Underworld?

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

A Hopyard as fucky as the Devil himself, is what I asked for!

Will 3 + 1 leaves Lola with 4 dice.

Will vs some "animals are scared of this place" bullshit
I rolled 4d6, the result is 6, 6, 3, 3 = 18.
Board Rider
Board Rider's picture

Let's go to the Unknown Kadath.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Sooooo... I fucked up. Bad. The gate that Carolyn Fern just stepped through leads to other worlds that are part of the Innsmouth Horror expansion, which we're not using. I've been filtering out stuff that applies to expansions we're not using as I run across it, and I should have caught this before adding it to the board.

@Board Rider, I'm gonna let you choose how to handle this.

1: We can draw a new gate and that's where Carolyn will end up, wherever it is.

2: Carolyn can go to any Other World she chooses except for Another Dimension or The Dreamlands. We'll otherwise continue to use the current gate for all other effects, such as the modifier to close the gate and the gem symbols to determine which monsters disappear from the board if the gate is closed.

Board Rider
Board Rider's picture

I don't know enough about the other worlds. Carolyn will just go to whatever is behind door number two!

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

To be clear, you're going with option #1?

Board Rider
Board Rider's picture

Yes, option 1.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Fair enough. Carolyn ends up in Another Time.

We're back in Upkeep. Slider changes an Upkeep actions from everyone, please. @Aladdar @Obsidian_Spoon @MinusInnocence @Board Rider.

Does Jim Culver keep his blessing? Survey SAYS...
I rolled 1d6, the result is 5 = 5.
MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

No slider changes for Lola. On Movement she will drive to Historical Society and pick up her 5th Clue.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

I don't think my character card is right is it? I should have all of my sanity back and I think I also lost my blessing though right?

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Huh. I'm not sure if that was imgur doing the dumb thing again or whether I had a dumb and linked to the wrong image, but it was displaying your old card, despite me having uploaded the new one. It's fixed now. Good catch.

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Ok, so with the 3 maniacs in the way, Kate can not get to Independence Square, and it's this turn that a gate opens there, right?. Is someone able to clear them out before Kate's turn? How do we want to handle that? If Kate is going to have to fight them herself, I want to try and cast blessing on myself and move my Fight slider up one. If someone else can fight them this turn first, then I won't move my sliders and will move to Independence Square on my turn.

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

If Lola moves before Kate, I can just drive there instead of Historical Society. Then you can just use the Brain Case to switch places with me.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

My plan is to try to take them out.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

As for my updates.

#1 Voice of Ra

I rolled 4d6, the result is 3, 3, 2, 6 = 14.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Ok, that passes, so now Arcane Insight.

I rolled 2d6, the result is 2, 6 = 8.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

alright, that passes, so give us the cards.

And I think I go second, so unless Carolyn is trying to take out the maniacs, I'm going to do my best at it. If so, I'll move my sneak all the way up to 4 just in case I need to try to miss one of them. If Carolyn is going to take them out then I might do different. Let me know what Carolyn's plans are.

Board Rider
Board Rider's picture

No changes to slider please.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Carolyn Fern is in an Other World, so not much chance she's gonna have anything to do with those Maniacs. If they're all taken down by the end of this turn, the killer gets an Exhibit Item. If not, the chance to get the item passes by, but the Maniacs remain, to be dealt with or not as per usual for monsters.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

ok, my plan is to do my best to take out those maniacs. We'll see how successful I am.

As for the cards. Should we keep them in the current order, or go ahead and let the gate open up in Wizards Hill? Can Carolyn get over to Independence Square in time?

As for my sliders, I'll move my speed/sneak slider down to 1 speed/4 sneak.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Kate can get there, provided either that the Maniacs are out of the way by her turn or that she's successfully able to sneak past them.

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

I think Lola does move before Kate, right? So if Aladdar can't kill them, that may be the next best idea.

MinusInnocence
MinusInnocence's picture

Sounds good.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

So, keep them in the order they are, then? If it comes down to it, a gate opening up isn't going to break us. We're very, very close to winning the game (two in a row, I'm actually amazed!).

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Ok, works for me.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

And I think I move 2nd with the first move just being Carolyn moving through dimensions.

So to speed things up, I'll give my moves now.

Seeing the Maniacs take out a few orderlies and escape the facility I jump into action and follow them out into the streets.

For the first monster, I cast Shrivelling.

I rolled 5d6, the result is 4, 5, 3, 5, 4 = 21.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

With that successfully cast, I turn to the first maniac and attack with Shrivelling.

I get 3d6 for fight, 6d6 for shirvelling, 1d6 for Voice of Ra, and 1d6 for the monster card for 11d6.

I rolled 11d6, the result is 5, 2, 6, 1, 2, 3, 3, 6, 6, 6, 3 = 43.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

The first maniac is torn in two.

We now turn to the second one. I think that shriveling only lasts for one monster and doesn't work through all fights? I'm going to operate under that assumption. If I'm wrong, then please let me know and ignore these next two rolls and I'll re-roll them with shriveling still functioning.

I pull out my cursed sphere to take on the 2nd maniac losing one sanity in the process.

I get 3d6 for fight, 6d6 for cursed sphere, 1d6 for Voice of Ra, and 1d6 for the monster card for 11d6.

I rolled 11d6, the result is 3, 2, 1, 4, 2, 1, 4, 2, 2, 5, 3 = 29.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

That one put up a bit of a fight, but eventually gives way as well.

Finally, I turn to face the final maniac. With my spell and sphere exhausted, I simply turn to my hands and attempt to beat his head in against the pavement.

I get 3d6 for fight, 1d6 for voice of Ra, and 1d6 for the monster card for a total of 5d6.

I rolled 5d6, the result is 1, 2, 5, 2, 2 = 12.
Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Sweeping the maniac's feet out from underneath him, I spin him, using his body weight against him, and slam his head hard into the pavement. With my hands blooded, I rise up and survey the damage wiping the blood off on their clothes.

"Well that was fun."

What's my fun card?

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Well. Holy fucking shit, Daisy. I mean... dayum!

Updating the Game thread now. The street will be clear of Maniacs after Daisy's turn in the Movement Phase, if anyone wants to get their action in.

Aladdar
Aladdar's picture

Can I give this to Carolyn as soon as she exits the gate somehow?

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

Jim Culver Luck check

Luck (-1)
I rolled 2d6, the result is 4, 5 = 9.
Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

@Obsidian_Spoon, the action's on Kate.

Kate Winthrop draws a card.

Independence Square - A storm strikes in the midst of rehearsals, and the actors flee for cover, leaving some of their props behind. Pass a Lore (-2) check to realize that one of the props is real, and draw a Unique Item.

Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Lore -2 leaves me with 2 dice, I believe.

I rolled 2d6, the result is 6, 3 = 9.
Obsidian_Spoon
Obsidian_Spoon's picture

Aw yiss.

Fixxxer
Fixxxer's picture

@Board Rider, the action's on Carolyn.

Carolyn Fern draws a card.

Other - The monster's corpse lies before you, and to your horror, you find your mouth watering. If you consume it, make a Fight (-2) check. If you fail, lose Stamina equal to the number of dice rolled. If you pass, gain Stamina equal to the number of dice rolled.

The way this is worded, you've got options:

1: Choose to resist the urge to eat. No stamina will be gained or lost.
2: Eat. Roll. Fail. Take Stamina loss.
3: Eat. Roll. Succeed. Regain lost stamina.

Board Rider
Board Rider's picture

I'll choose option 1.

Also, was there an attack on the site? Everything was blank and then it wouldn't load.
