Call for new players!

I'm back from my worldly travels and almost ready to kick off a new game. Our last struggle, against dread Azathoth, went very well, and I'm looking to see who might be interested in taking on a new challenge. This time through, we'll be using the Dunwich Horror expansion, which adds two new Other Worlds and three new neighborhoods to the game, as well as a few new rules and potentially The Dunwich Horror itself! Plus, I acquired the last two small expansions during our break, which should be arriving at my doorstep any day now. New encounters, new items, new spells and something like 100 new investigators. Woo!

So... who wants in?

Is it possible for someone who A) didn't play in your last game and 2) has never played before to join in?

Fixxxer

Yes it is, and I'd love to have you.

Aladdar

I'm in again.

@Aladdar, would you mink posting links to a few of the youtube videos on the game that helped you the most with understanding the mechanics?

Since Aladdar is playing I would like to play again.

If it's not too late, I'm definitely down for playing again. However, I should observe that @Obsidian_Spoon has played before, he just doesn't remember because we didn't finish. We started at like 7pm with 8 players and pretty much immediately it became obvious we would be playing until just before the sun came up the next day.

Thus far, we've got Obsidian_spoon, MinusInnocence, Aladdar, Board Rider and myself. We can fit up to 3 more players. I have to admit that 5 is my least favorite number of players to have. With 5+ players, you get 2 monsters spawned per gate, but you only have one more player to help pick up the slack. We'll keep enrollment going for a little while longer and see if we can get another player.

@drumandfight, this is 1000% your kind of thing. Just sayin'.

I'm trying to find those videos I used to learn the game but so far can't find them from googling. I think I posted them in one of the threads way back when but I can't find them there either. I'll keep looking.

Here's a pretty good video of some people playing the game however. I don't know how much they go into explaining the mechanics, but it'll give you a good overview of the game.

The biggest difficulty when searching for tutorials online is that there are so many versions of the game. There's a new 3rd edition that just came out. (We're playing 2nd edition, so ignore the 3rd edition tutorials). There's also a living card game version as well which often shows up in searches.

I've made a callout to a few of my old board gaming friends to see if any are interested in playing.

Fixxxer

I think I'll keep the callout open through the weekend.

Aladdar

Looks like none of my callouts are generating interest.

One of Sierra's friends from high school expressed interest this weekend. I'll give him a day or two to create an account and express interest, along with anyone else that suddenly decides they might want in. Gives me time to scan in some of the new cards from the expansions that arrived in the mail today and to write up and post some stuff about new and additional rules added by the Dunwich Horror expansion (look for that shortly). Either way, barring something getting in the way, I'll tentatively plan to select a BBEG and Investigators by Tuesday at the latest.

Actually, on that subject, @Aladdar, @Obsidian_Spoon, @MinusInnocence and @Board Rider, each of you please roll 1d48 for me, as will I. I'll use the results to select our Investigators. Likewise, I'll roll 1d24 right now, which will tell us which Ancient One we'll be playing against. If a result lands on an Investigator you've already played or an Ancient One we've already seen, I'll adjust the number up or down by 1.

Fixxxer's Investigator; Ancient one
I rolled 1d48, the result is 17 = 17.
I rolled 1d24, the result is 14 = 14.

Squeeeee!

I rolled 1d48, the result is 9 = 9.

Rolls.

I rolled 1d48, the result is 17 = 17.

Well that's awkward. I'll roll again since you already got 17. This die roller...

I rolled 1d48, the result is 19 = 19.

I'm not opposed to playing Sister Mary again, if that's how the die roll turns out, but if you want everyone to switch to a new character that's fine too.

I'ma butter dat roll
I rolled 1d48, the result is 26 = 26.
Aladdar

rolling now. Same as MinusInnocence. I don't mind Daryl if he comes up, or I'll happily choose someone else.

I rolled 1d48, the result is 5 = 5.

Alright, I've got Investigators for everyone and an Ancient One. I've got about 10 minutes of work left to do to add material from the new expansions to my decks and we'll be pretty much ready to go. I ought to be able to get Investigators, their gear and the Ancient One posted for you guys to see by late tonight. Then we can make decisions about turn order and we'll be ready to begin.
