No, don't do that. Grimvaalk's got Fanax's back. He's got everlasting rations, which makes enough to feed all 4 goblins each day.

Darker

Unless I could have bought 1/4 size everlasting rations for 1/4 the cost, then I might have spent the money on some cooler stuff.

Board Rider
Board Rider's picture

Fanax is reasonably confident that three fine warriors can kill a boar. No need to break a sweat.

He'll casually guide his pony to go retrieve Grimvaalks mount.

EDIT: Yeah, Tal, don't do that! First you kill off one of my characters now you're spending my PCs gold. Shame!

Or, Fanax can keep the rations. We are evil after all.

Talanall
Talanall's picture

No to the quartering of cost/size. Also, note that the SRD differs on how much food is required by Small vs. Medium characters.

Characters might find themselves without food or water and with no means to obtain them. In normal climates, Medium characters need at least a gallon of fluids and about a pound of decent food per day to avoid starvation. (Small characters need half as much.) In very hot climates, characters need two or three times as much water to avoid dehydration.

A character can go without water for 1 day plus a number of hours equal to his Constitution score. After this time, the character must make a Constitution check each hour (DC 10, +1 for each previous check) or take 1d6 points of nonlethal damage.

A character can go without food for 3 days, in growing discomfort. After this time, the character must make a Constitution check each day (DC 10, +1 for each previous check) or take 1d6 points of nonlethal damage.

Theoretically, Grimvaalk's rations could feed both him and Fanax. But Fanax will be screwed if the party gets scattered for any length of time, or if something (for example) kills Grimvaalk and Fanax has to run away without his cousin's corpse.

But if Fanax wants to trust things to turn out fine, I guess he can.

If you don't want the rations, then delete them from your sheet and give yourself the 5 gp back, @Board Rider. It's completely your decision.

What's Yonah Adisi doing? Is he gonna try to stick this pig, or spectate like Fanax?

Eh....I am good. The dragon will probably kill us anyway.

Yonah will draw a javelin and ready an action to throw it at the boar once it is flushed from the undergrowth. "If it is as you say, don't underestimate it. Many a hoo-man has died that way."

Cronono

Out of initiative, Gorx responds. "If underestimating it kills pinkies, keep underestimating it!"

Cronono
Cronono's picture

Gorx will call for Earth Elementals to assist with the hunt.

1d20+Shaman Level to Call, 2d6+10 (Shaman Level + 2 from Feat + 4 CHA)
I rolled 1d20+4, the result is 16, 4 = 20.
I rolled 2d6+10, the result is 1, 4, 10 = 15.
Talanall
Talanall's picture

That result yields a total of 15 HD worth of spirits, no one of which may have more than 9 HD. If Gorx calls anything with more than 3 HD, all his spirits will treat his orders as merely friendly suggestions; creatures with 3 HD or less will obey him without question unless he tells them to do something that's obviously suicidal.

Gorx doesn't have a shared language with these spirits, so he can communicate only basic commands, such as “Come here,” “Go there,” “Fight,” and “Stand still.”

Cronono

Gorx will seal the pact with 7 of the 2 HD Earth Elementals. He'll point at the boar, then extend one hand, palm up. He then smashes his balled fist into his extended palm. He doesn't share a language, so he'll just say "Underestimate the boar."

Talanall
Talanall's picture

Okay. Calling spirits is a full-round action, so that'll happen next round.

I made a small mistake; Gorx will have to settle for only six earth elementals. He's hitting his level cap.

Let's have a Charisma check to represent Gorx's facility at playing charades. Yonah, Cha'nek, Zathrus, Zathrus's horse, and the boar are all in the same general direction, after all. There's some room for confusion.

Anyone else getting worried that if our group can't take down a boar, we might not be able to kill this dragon?

Fanax is going to tell himself that because he didn't help the boar was a much more difficult kill. That way he can charge into battle with the dragon filled with ignorant bliss.
Talanall
Talanall's picture

I think it would be more accurate to say that Grimvaalk and Zathrus can't take down a boar, in less than three full rounds.

It's not clear to me that Gorx's elementals are going to be fast enough to catch up to the critter, but if the battlefield were laid out in such a way that they could have arrived closer to the boar, the fight would already be over. For that matter, it probably would already be over if the bugbears had been able to get into melee with the boar.

As it is, this is not a difficult kill (none of you has even taken damage), so much as it is taking a long time for you to pile on enough damage to make the piggy fall over.

I was joking. That was a joke. I'm sure if it wasn't running, we'd be eating ribs and ham right now.

Zathrus's brow tightens and his mouth turns down in a frown. He's clearly fed up. "Freeze, little piggy," he growls.
