Alright boys, it's Eyes Wide Shut time.
I can't say I'm a fan of this session title.
I get it. It's a reference to us.
Knowledge (planes), Knowledge (nobility and royalty), Knowledge (local) and Bardic Knowledge may be applicable here.
Roll only the check that has the highest modifier.
Wæs se grimma gæst Grendel haten,mære mearcstapa, se þe moras heold
Chuul has ranks in none of that.
Well, Alannah's bardic knowledge is +15 so if we're supposed to roll once with the highest mod, here you go:
Oskav has Local! He is something of a scientist himself.
After a second, Alannah actually recognizes the coat of arms on the doors of the carriage, and makes a connection with some songs she heard shortly after she left home to go adventuring. The lavender-wearing fop in the devil mask probably is Lord Wægmunding. Alannah isn't sure of his rank. Maybe a baron? Anyway, the songs were formulaic ballads about the heroic founders of the Wægmunding line. They honestly weren't very good (and in her opinion, neither was the gnome who performed them), and they weren't very old. Alannah wouldn't be surprised if they were commissioned by someone inside the household; sometimes noblemen do such things to cultivate prestige. She's actually pretty sure they were truthful, though. The Wægmundings are a pretty old family. She doesn't know much about the current lord, except for a vague recollection that he's young and rich.
Unusually, a couple of the ballads went on at some length about a famous sword that was once owned by the family, a blade known as Cowardslayer. It has since been lost.
Oskav comes up blank on this one.
Ah, too bad.
How do you like that double entendre burn.
I'm sure Baldr and Oskav have a completely platonic relationship.
Actually, triple entendre.
This clip should answer any questions about the level of intimacy Oskav enjoys with his familiar. https://youtu.be/KQoJo81lujk
Well, does Alannah know?
She recognizes the coat of arms on the carriage door as that of the Barony of Greenshore.
I don't know how everyone else feels about it (especially Tal), but since the Bastards appear to mostly be splitting up, do we take this to PM's? Just throwing it out there... if Tal's planning something particularly nefarious, doing so might be in his plan anyway and now my suggestion will mask the true motivation for the devious antics that will soon take place.
To some extent, it's likely that the PCs will remain if not in earshot of one another, then at least in a situation where some of them probably can see others.
So I'm willing to do it in the open if you guys would prefer that, or we can take it to PM. It's really your decision.
Though I suggested it, I have no substantial reason to move it to PM (Alannah's not secretly plotting in a way I don't want the other players to know about). Logistically, I'm good with whatever keeps the game moving and easy to follow.
Avar is single and ready to mingle. I don't need to do that via PM unless Tal thinks so. Avar will be in the common areas.
Is anyone getting a Zapp Brannigan vibe from Avar?
That picture is missing the tired, put upon sigh.
Chuul is primarily interested in not mingling, so PM isn't needed from my perspective.
I hope that someday, I get to give all of the Bastards what they really want.
Is anyone getting a Zapp Brannigan vibe from Avar?
I didn't know it was possible for this comparison to get better, but it just did.
Oskav is more than a little stir-crazy but talking to people has never made him feel better when he gets like this. So while he is admiring his host's taste in architecture and home decor, he does his level best to find his way to the library. This almost certainly means leaving the area designated for the party, so if it looks like he's going to run into resistance we'll take it from there to figure out how he can get past security.
Well, after a few YouTube videos consider Avar as having his lunch packed, hips checked and ready for snoo snoo.
Well done, Darker!
Let's have a Listen check from Oskav, as well as Sense Motive.
Knowledge (religion) from Garren, please.
Baldr, don't fail me now!
Great, Alannah seems to have captured one of the purple dot guests.
The colors don't actually mean anything, except that gray indicates someone who's clearly a hireling or servant. Purple vs. green is just because my tokens are all numbered 1-10, and we have more than 10 active NPCs running around.
Hanging out with fat half-orc and creepy dwarf paladin really didn't seem like that fun of an idea.
What's creepy about the paladin? His magnificent handlebar mustache?
That's a start. Mainly because he's a paladin and from her limited experience, paladins are pretty creepy guys.
Oh damn, its the fucking vampire in the library come to take his gimp home.
Nah I escaped from the vampire room to come here. All the bloodsuckers are definitely at the party and me and this mystery guest are about to lock the doors and just wait for the whole thing to blow over.
Man, that vamp is going to go all hypnotoad on you and send you back out as his minion. Kill Oskav on sight.
Sorry to disappoint. No vampires here.
Well, at least Marta is a vampire. I'm going to take her in front of a mirror.
And that, kids, is how half-elves are made.
I'm pretty sure tongues can't cause pregnancy. Like, 99.9% certain.
They can if you do it right.
Remember... flies spread disease. So keep yours closed.
Garren recognizes the amulet in between The Milkmaid's ample breasts as the balanced scales of Lereina. He would have to get much closer than decorum allows to be able to see enough details to be sure, but he recognizes it as a possibility that The Milkmaid is some kind of clergywoman.
We've had some issues with the Velvet Purse before, and this may be a connection. I'll be looking to pass that information to Alannah if we should pass each other in the near future. It seems likely Avar and I will be heading toward the food in a moment...
Whew....Avar was looking to bed a potentially evil clergy woman?
Close one. I think even the most liberal interpretation of the Code of Conduct would say that joining someone in sexual congress counts as "associating" with them.
Potentially clergy, of an evil deity. Potentially evil, but not necessarily. Recall that this setting does not adhere to a one-step alignment rule for clerics. It's theoretically possible that The Milkmaid could be a CG cleric, despite the fact that the deity whose symbol she wears is decidedly LE.
Most clerics and adepts DO adhere to a one-step rule, such that (in the example of Avar's own faith) a great majority of Agonite clerics are LG, LN, N, or LE.
In general, instances where someone is a cleric of a deity whose alignment actually opposes his own on at least one pole (a CG cleric of Agon, for example), probably are cases where you're dealing with some kind of heretic or hypocrite. But they exist.
The Milkmaid probably is LN, LE, or NE, though. So it's probably just as well that Avar didn't go any further than he did in his efforts to stroke her udders. MinusInnocence is correct to suggest that it may be a problem for a good paladin to stick his dick in the evil.
Thinking about it more, I am a bit surprised Tal didn't play that out. Imagine Avar going back to the church having to explain that particular issue!
