Submission

So you’ve decided to submit your work for consideration? Good. We here at the Dungeons and Dragons Archive applaud you. Reader submission is what this place is all about. However, we can’t simply accept anything jotted down and sent to us. There’s a certain quality that is expected of the works we host that must be met by anyone wanting to have their work displayed here.

When a piece of work is submitted, we read over it to determine its quality. If we cannot understand it because it is too poorly spelled or contains obvious grammatical errors that make our heads split just reading it, the work will not be accepted. We do understand, however, that different nations or regions spell various words differently (armor vs. armour, for instance). Additionally, any work submitted to us will almost certainly have to be reformatted to fit our standard, but we will not display any edited version of your work without your permission.

There are also a few questions we need answered with the submission. Any submission that does not contain this information will not be accepted.

  • What is the name (or “handle”) you want attached to this work?
  • Do you want interested readers to be able to contact you via email regarding your work. If so, what email address do you want us to display?
  • Do we have your permission to edit your work to correct any spelling, grammatical or mechanical errors?
  • Are any references from sources other than the three core rulebooks used in your submission? If so, please list all references with their appropriate non-core source.

In addition to answering the questions above, with regards to some submissions, you can make our lives much easier by doing some of the formatting work for us. Below are some pre-made submission guidelines (most of which follow the formatting of the core rulebooks exactly) that will help you with this. You can simply copy and paste these into any text editor or word processor and fill in the blanks. Note: not using these guidelines doesn’t preclude your entry from being accepted, but it does help insure that we can understand it and that it will be displayed in a timely manner.

Also, a note about copyright. Any material you submit to us here at The Dungeons and Dragons Archive remains your intellectual property. By submitting material to us, you are accepting the inevitability that someone will read your work and copy it for their own personal use. However, no one but you has the right to publish your work.  For more information, please see our Copyright Info page. For complete information about copyright or to register your work for added protection, please visit the U.S. Copyright Office.

Book Review Music Review Submitting an article, review or other work is easy. All you have to do is drop us a line. Be sure to include your work along with your answers to the questions above. Life can be hectic, but we try to check for new submmissions at least every few days (usually more than once per day). If your work is accepted, you will recieve a message informing you of this. If, for some reason, your work is not accepted, you will recieve a message stating why it wasn't accepted and possibly some suggestions for how to edit or alter it to make it acceptable. In either case, please be patient. It may take us a few days to get to your submission.
