Drakeson doesn't move from his position, ready to rekill a possibily infected kid.

Theriot looks astonished for a couple of minutes, but once the resuscitation efforts are underway, he says to Stein, "I'm goin' in da engine room. Wake her if you can, bra. If not, I'll give her last rites."
He nudges Wright. "C'mon. We gotta look over dat motor."

Wright nods. "Right. Engine. Good." He follows Theriot, looking back over his shoulder every now and then. He mutters to himself, wipes his hand over his eyes a few times and eventually gets his 'game face' back on.
"Yeah," he says, more steady now, "Let's take a look at that engine and get it working. I need to get my hands dirty on something for a while."

Wright and Theriot go to have a look at the engine. The engine room is a complete mess. Whether or not something is actually wrong with the engine will be difficult enough to determine without a thorough cleaning, much less diagnosing an actual problem. Despite this, Wright makes good on his threat to get his hands dirty and dives right into an attempt at diagnosis, his hands caressing the engine as though she were a new lover. Meanwhile, Theriot pokes around, looking for anything that might be used to clean up the mess. He finds a half-empty plastic jug containing what he is reasonably certain is degreaser. He also notices something that escaped everyone's eyes on the deck. There is a water-tight hatch in the ceiling of the engine room. It undoubtedly leads right up through the stern deck.
Stein shoos Drakeson back and begins an observation of the girl. He doesn't notice any outward signs that she's among the ranks of the infected, and the fact she's breathing makes it clear that she's not undead. He feels confident enough to move in for an honest medical examination. Despite being hampered a bit by the cramped conditions and the poor lighting, Stein's medical expertise shines through. The girl is obviously suffering from the effects of anoxia. Had the airtight door not been opened, she would certainly have died from asphyxiation within an hour... probably less. Were she white, the severity of her condition would be easier to determine through outward discoloring of the skin, but the fact that her fingertips are chalky to the point of being almost completely white themselves tells Stein that she reached a dangerous lack of oxygen, well past the point where she would have passed out. He carefully moves his hands over her skin, looking for blemishes or signs of attack, but as he does so, the girl groans and moves. Drakeson is ready to shoot her then and there, but Stein shakes his head, knowing that she is just coming around as oxygen returns to her starved brain. Her eyes crack open a little bit and she weakly says "Al... algebanye'm. E'bake'sh." Stein recognizes that there's a chance she is disoriented and speaking gibberish due to her anoxia, but it sounds more like a real language, albeit one that he doesn't understand (nor does Drakeson).

"Drakeson" Stein says in tones of some annoyance, "please stop pointing your weapon at the sick little girl, and make yourself useful by finding Theriot or someone else likely to understand the local gabble."
To the child he says in soothing tones, "My name is Diedrich Stein, I'm an American. I'm afraid I only speak English, but my friend speaks Arabic, and he'll be here shortly... Do you speak any english?"

The girl's face doesn't change, and she continues to appear as though she's still half asleep and dreaming. "N'glsh... ie. Algebanye'm," she says. She doesn't shake her head, but it appears the answer is probably a negative.

Drakeson lowers his weapon with a weird look on his face, something between relief that the girl wasn't undead and disappointment in not getting to shoot her. He turns and yells into the engine room, "Hey! The girls awake, but she's speaking some kind of gibberish. One of you know what Algeebayem means?"
Satisified that nothing requires his unique set of skills (i.e. nothing needs to be blown up or beaten down) he shrugs his shoulders and goes top side to see if there's anything interesting going on there.

Theriot hurries over to the girl, and tries addressing her in Arabic, "You are safe, child. No one will harm you, I promise you."

Still looking like a sleeper that does not want to wake up, or perhaps like a drunk in the process of passing out, she says in a dreamy, but cracked voice, "Yeat no'ab?"
It would appear that she doesn't speak Arabic.

Theriot smooths the girl's hair back, and tells Drakeson and Stein, "I don't understand nothin' she says. It ain't Arabic; she's talkin' some kind of African language."
He pauses to make soothing noises and stroke the child's head, then adds, "We need to dump the bodies overboard before she sees 'em. They're her family. I can just make out that she wants her daddy."

Stein closes his eyes for a few moments and nods, "Yes, the picture of what happened is very clear." His tones are somewhat bitter as he says, "I wonder what god they prayed to that we no doubt answer their final prayer. Maybe I should consider switching."
His eyes narrow, "I'll keep the child here. Have someone bring me some hot soup as fast as possible, while you deal with the bodies. A broth soup, still. Need to get calories in her, but lets do it carefully, and the heat is more important. By the time she's done with that, the place should be cleaned up enough to not be an issue. Don't you think?" He looks directly at Drakeson as he says this last, smiling almost.

"Soup?" Theriot looks uncertain for a moment, then manages, "I'll try, bra. We ain't got much better than MREs."
Standing up, he punches Drakeson in the arm and prompts, "C'mon. Help me hide the bodies. After that, we cookin' up some delicious broth. Mmm-mmm!"

Stein says curtly, "Unless you know where the fixings are on board, have Philips or someone start it WHILE you work on cleaning up. The soup isn't just to distract her, she desperately needs to get warm liquids into her."

"Yeah, Yeah... go clean up. Damn, join the army, become a fuckin' maid." Drakeson starts to wander off... then stops and spins back around, "I know we're trying to be all carin' and shit right now, but I just thought about something than might be more pressing..."
"If we came to this boat because we saw a smoke column miles high, you think anyone else might have seen it with similiar desires for supplies or a bigger boat?"
